      Chair of Governors

      Councillor Thomas is the Chair of Governors, a post she has held since 1995. She is also Chair of the Personnel and Standards Committees and has special responsibility for Looked After Children and Special Educational Needs. For her ‘day job’ Mrs Thomas has served as a Councillor for the Halliwell area and is now Leader of the Council. Prior to that, she ran a playgroup which gave her a passion for early years education. As she represents the area, Mrs Thomas wanted to take a Governor role at school to ensure we always have excellent education facilities.

      Mrs Bainbridge-Daniel has served as a Governor for 12 years and is Link Governor with special responsibility for training, as well as being Vice-Chair and serving on all the various Committees. She took the role to be involved in the way the school is run and to be able to support the school and the local community. Away from school, Mrs Bainbridge-Daniel is a Manager at a homecare company, caring for old people in the community.

      Mrs Wood is a Partnership Governor, being the link between the Governors and the Local Authority. She also serves on the Curriculum, Standards, Safeguarding, Finance and Personnel sub-committees. With a background as a Primary school Deputy Head Teacher, she wanted to become a Governor so that she could give something back to the teaching profession.

      Mr Hesford spent his whole career as a teacher, with 22 years as a Head Teacher at a local primary school. When he retired 16 years ago, he was invited to become a Governor at Oxford Grove. Mr Hesford was happy to accept so that he could give something back to the community. He has special responsibility for health and safety. He serves as the Chair of Finance, and also attends Personnel, Standards and Curriculum Committee meetings as well as having special responsibility for Health and Safety.

      Mrs Worsley has served as a Governor at school for 24 years, with special responsibilities for Music, and says she still loves the role! When she retired from her job as a peripatetic teacher in the Bolton area, she wanted to use her experience and interest in music, coming to Oxford Grove seemed the right thing to do.

      Mrs Ahmed has been a Governor for 11 years. She started as a Parent Governor, wanting to be involved in what was going on at the school, and stayed on the Governing Board even when her children left school as she enjoys it so much! Mrs Ahmed works in the local community as an interpreter.

      Mrs Herez has served as a Parent Governor and is also a volunteer helper at the school. She took on the role of Governor to contribute to making the school a better place.       Mrs Dean is a newly elected Parent Governor who is passionate about giving all children and young people opportunities to be the best they can be both within and beyond the classroom. As a qualified secondary teacher with a background in physical education and school sport, she has a keen interest in developing PE.

      Miss Harvey is in her sixth year as Head teacher. Since January 2001 she has played a key role in the leadership and management of the school, holding the posts of Assistant Head teacher and Deputy Head teacher before becoming Head teacher in September 2013. She is dedicated to consistently providing the pupils of Oxford Grove with the first class education they deserve.

      Mrs. Ainscough has worked at Oxford Grove since 2002 when she joined the school as a Reception Class teacher. Since then she has worked extremely hard to become a key member of the school’s Senior Leadership Team, and is now Assistant Headteacher. She manages the Foundation Stage Unit, ensuring provision for our youngest pupils is of the highest quality, and co-ordinates the school’s response to special educational needs and pupils with English as an additional language.

      Mrs. Bain joined Oxford Grove in 2002 and has since taught classes throughout the school. As an expert classroom practitioner she is always on hand to offer coaching and mentoring support.

      Mrs. Moore is one of the longest serving members of the school’s hugely effective Higher Level Teaching Assistant team and is currently in her final year of her teacher training qualification. Having joined the school in 2003 she has worked very hard to become a valued member of the staff team, teaching classes, co-ordinating lunchtime provision across the school and plays a leading role in running the high quality Breakfast Club provision available to all pupils.
